SPMT 482 - Seminar in...

The purpose of SPMT 482 courses is to provide a brief overview of various topics. This is a one-hour course designed to provide students with information concerning a specialized field of interest. Thus, the courses provide a more in-depth analysis of topics briefly touched upon in the Sport Management curriculum. Seminar topics include (a) Sport Agents, (b) Sport History, (c) Social Psychology, (d) Sport Sponsorship, and (e) Intercollegiate Athletics. After completing this course, the student should be able to: define key sponsorship concepts and strategies as they apply to a broad sport context such as professional/college/high school sport settings, corporate fitness, and youth sport organizations/camps; access and interpret relevant primary and secondary data sources essential to understanding consumers of sport events, which is an essential component of sponsorship proposals; understand key consumer behavior concepts and their implications for sport sponsorship; and prepare and critically evaluate a comprehensive sponsorship proposal.
